Greg split time growing up between Houston and his families\' rural Texas cattle ranch. He started playing guitar in high school. He studied music in college and holds a B.A.A.S. with a concentration in Jazz Performance, Ethnomusicology, and classical guitar from the University of North Texas and has also attended The Berklee College of Music in Boston.

He has played extensively in the United States and performed abroad in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. His musical groups have shared the stage with such musical luminaries as Lil\' Wayne, Cedar Walton, Oscar de Leon, Cubanismo, Ozomatli, Ludacris, Meshell Ndegeocello, Duffy, Blues Traveler, Ricky Scaggs, Brave Combo, Grupo Fantasma, Ocote Soul Sounds, Los Van Van, and The Rebirth Brass Band.

Greg\'s current and former musical collaborations include such Austin talent as: Suns of Orpheus, Los Bad Apples, Michael Kingcaid, The Motts, Rick Trevino, Ghandaia, The Crying Monkeys, Funk Brazil, Topaz, Suzanna Choffel, Luis Angel Ibanez, The Flying Club, Soniquete, O Positivo, Charanga Cakewalk, Os Alchemistas, Frederico 7 and the Hashashin, Oro Viejo, Leticia Rodriguez, Karison, Javier Chaparo, Los Romanceros, Jason Blum, Ginger Leigh, Los Cabrones, The John Stewart Latin Jazz Project, The Greg Jones Sextet, The Ginger & Sarah Band, The Recliners, The McKay Brothers, Paul Klemperer, Darin Layne, Mr. Fabulous, The Starlight Trio, and PK Sax.

Greg also draws upon his musical training to bring a wide variety of musical styles to private events such as: weddings, receptions, corporate events, and house parties.

In addition to live performance, Greg enjoys producing music in his home studio. He has produced music for commercials, web-casts, films, and his growing discography.

Greg has demonstrated his appreciation for the Austin community via benefit performances for such organizations as the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAMM), Casa Marianella, and Amigos de Austin. Current professional affiliations include The Austin Federation of Musicians, The Austin Music Foundation, Broadcast Music Incorporated, The Crying Monkeys Social Club, and The MOTTS Party Co.

Greg is also committed to music education. His teaching resume includes guitar offerings at The Griffin School, Albertson School of Music, Mars Music Learning Center, Casa Brasil, and The Traveling Music Teachers Network. Greg has chaired the guitar program at Victoria College for the past 10 years. He has taught privately for 25 years.
